The Brief
My client had a good running website and an online shop selling a unique American brand of leather shoes. I was asked to translate all content from English to French, not only the products but also the blogposts. In this way he could reach the non English-speaking French (potential) customers. He aims to the long term and plans to expand to other countries outside the Netherlands as the unique and official reseller in the whole Europe.
My Approach
I was new to the shoe industry and leather goods but I could feel the passion and the dream that my client was living so far when starting his shop 7 years ago in the heart of Amsterdam. That is what brought me to accept the challenge and dive deeply into the shoe jargon I needed to study to perform my translations.
Luckily the website was built with WordPress and was running well. I could immediately add value to my services by processing all translation texts into the website directly. Saving indeed a lot of time to my client! After months, there was even no need for him to prepare and send me the texts in separate documents, just mentionning what had been added was enough, I could see new articles and products directly in the WordPress administration dashboard of the website.
The Results
The whole website is running fully in French, alike the original English site, and each item can be ordered entirely in French language. Minor typos, and dead links that I see in the source pages are also corrected. All blog stories are in a very short time translated and published in French on my client’s request. It is rewarding to have created such a long-term collaboration.
